Millions of items are offered, and billions of dollars worth of merchandise are sold every year through this service. eBay is an online marketplace built to enable trade on a local, national and international basis. eBay offers an online platform where millions of items are traded each day through Online Auction Formats, also called auction-style listings, or through immediate "Buy It Now" Fixed Price and eBay Store listings.
Launched of eBay
The background of eBay was not so old. eBay was originally called AuctionWeb and founded in 1995. The site belonged to founder Pierre Omidyar's Echo Bay Technology Group, when he tried to register echobay.com as a web site, he found that url was already taken. So he shortened the name to eBay.com, registering that domain.
